Story behind Bamboo Rustle

The Bamboo Pit Viper Research Centre (BPVRC) supports field-based research and immersive learning for students, researchers, and nature enthusiasts through research support, internships, and conservation engagement. It also runs Bamboo Rustles, a jungle camp and learning space that blends ecotourism with biodiversity and wilderness education.

The Bamboo Pit Viper Research Foundation (BPVRF) focuses on studying native flora and fauna of the surrounding dry deciduous forests while educating nearby communities, especially youth, through outreach programs. Founded by Sachin Aggarwal, the initiative aims to promote hands-on learning, wildlife awareness, and habitat restoration.

Founding Director

Sachin Agarwal

Sachin has always loved being in forests, curious about flowering trees and wildlife—from the many green frogs of monsoon in Kabini to the tigers of Corbett. A certified scuba diver and longtime camper across the US and India, he finds that camping away from civilization brings one closest to nature.

Though he holds a Master’s degree from the College of Business at Arizona State University and has worked with software startups in California, Bangalore, and Austin, his passion for nature led him to start Bamboo Rustles. He also transformed a barren land beside a scrub forest into a nature camp for workshops and learning experiences.

Meera Anna Oommen

Meera is a founder trustee and Associate Director at Dakshin Foundation, where she leads the Conservation Crossroads programme and supports research coordination and the development of the Andaman Nicobar Environment Team.
